Why Education is Important?
Why Education is Important?
Education is the only tool that brings about positive and lasting change in the individual and collective life of individuals. It is through education that individuals develop morally, socially, economically, and socially. As a result, a healthy society is formed. A healthy society paves the way for the development of the nation. All this is possible when the curriculum taught to the children of this nation is compatible with the background, thoughts, and needs of this nation. If we examine the education system of our country, we find our education system hollow. This is the reason that despite the passage of 75 years, we could not build a healthy society, we could not become a nation and we could not develop the country. The main reason for its failure is the poor education system.
The following are some of the reasons for this.
Poverty:
According to the World Bank report, more than one-third of people are living below the poverty line. Food is the basic need of human beings. The most important problem for those living below the poverty line is bread. Education is not the solution to their immediate problem, so this segment neither values education nor is willing to make their children a part of the education system. This segment wants their children to be able to earn something to help them in their employment and earn something every day to support their families. When forty percent of the society is out of the education system, neither their development will be better nor will it be possible to create a healthy society. So how will the country develop under these conditions? There is a need to fully implement Article 25 (A) of the Constitution of Pakistan and make it mandatory for parents to ensure the education of their children. Also, the government should set a stipend to deal with their poverty problem. Thus positive results can be expected.
Inadequate Budget:
It is a tragedy that education policies have always emphasized the provision of resources for education but in practice funding for education has always been less than 2 percent of GDP. Developed countries spend more than 7% on education which has revolutionized the education sector. Our educational institutions are dilapidated due to scarce resources. If at least 5% of GDP is allocated to education, good results can be expected.
Use of Technology:
The present age is the age of science and technology. Technology has affected all aspects of human life and has had both positive and negative effects on human life. On the one hand, the use of technology for audio-visual interests such as computers, multimedia, and the internet has improved teaching and learning. has made it easy, on the other hand, its misuse has also had negative effects on a large number of students and due to its misuse society has become a victim of moral decline and it can become an incurable disease. Children should be facilitated but an effective plan should be made and strictly followed to avoid its negative use because in today's world we see that both teachers and students are using WhatsApp and Facebook. Stay busy but they have gone far away from the curriculum. Therefore, all websites except education should be blocked.
Irrelevant Responsibilities:
It has been the tragedy of the education department, especially school education, that teachers are often assigned extraneous responsibilities apart from teaching, due to which their own responsibilities remain unfulfilled. Like census, purchase of wheat, polio vaccination, and election duty so that a duty is imposed in which the teachers are not dragged. Teaching hours are already short in the academic calendar and this extra duty from above leaves no stone unturned in ruining the education system. Therefore, it is important that the teachers are not burdened with additional duties to achieve positive educational results and the teacher's attention should be focused only on teaching.
Educational Evaluation:
The educational evaluation system in Pakistan has also been unsatisfactory. which has promoted Rte. In this evaluation system, only the memory of the students is tested, due to which the thinking and understanding skills are not developed in the students. The stated results could not be achieved due to mismanagement. Better results could have been achieved if the Elementary Board was formed and the examinations were on the PEC pattern.
Vacancies:
Vacancies are also a major cause of the academic decline. The reason why so many posts are vacant at the moment is that on one hand they are not being properly monitored and on the other hand the extra burden on the teachers is also very high. And in almost every school, if there is a chemistry teacher, there is no physics teacher, if there is a physics teacher, there is no mathematics teacher. If both the principal and the teachers are in accordance with the number of students in the school, it will be possible to get rid of the educational problems.
